BIO
Stan Neckar, a Czech born 10 year NHL Veteran, began playing in the NHL at the young age of 18. Selected by the Ottawa Senators, 29th overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. Neckar with his intimidating size and strong defensive play quickly became a key player in the Senators lineup. He earned title of 'Senator’s Rookie of the Year' and 'Senator's Best Defensemen' in his first season. Stan also played with the Czech National at the World Cup and at the World Championships where the team won Gold.
In 1999 the New York Rangers traded for Stan and he enjoyed playing alongside Wayne Gretzky. Later he landed in Phoenix and remained for the next two seasons, helping the team secure a playoff spot. In 2001, Stan was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Over the course of 4 seasons Neckar would see the Lightning go from a struggling team to winning the Stanley Cup in 2004. During the lock out year Neckar returned to his native Czech Republic and helped his former team win the Czech Hockey League1st place. Stan played one more season with the Swedish Elite League bringing veteran experience and leadership to Sodertalje SSK club. After a long and successful hockey career, he returned to Tampa to retire. Stan and his wife Shawna along with their 4 children now call Tampa home.
